The General Directorate of Statistics (GDS) held a special celebration on World Statistics Day to promote quality statistics which are indispensable, trustable, reliable, and impartial. Vice-minister of Finance, H.E. Ms. Sara Lobo Brites launched the celebrations on 13 October. The celebrations aimed to strengthen the friendship amongst statisticians at the GDS and as well as with relevant institutions. Three main activities, consisting of sports, religious and cultural festivities, were held. As part of the celebration, there was a mass celebration and visit to the cemetery to honor GDS' former statisticians who have died. Core statistics were also disseminated. Moreover, the GDS also conducted overall performance evaluation on the work of staffs.
